Zero Crossings – March 9, 2015 – Young Composers Challenge!

2015-03-09 15.38.46 Today’s show featured an interview with composers John Callahan, Dan Crozier, Steve Goldman, Keith Lay, Justin White, and conductorChristopher Wilkins, who were in the studio to discuss their involvement with the Young Composers Challenge. The National Young Composers Challenge is open to young U.S. resident composers ages 13 to 18 whereby they submit a composition for small ensemble (2 to 6 instruments) or full orchestra to a panel of judges who choose the top three orchestral and top three ensemble compositions to be performed and recorded by a professional symphony orchestra at the NYCC Composium. This year’s submission deadline is May 1 for a Composium that will take place at the newly opened Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on October 18.
