Zero Crossings – February 02, 2015 – Dan Crozier

CROZIERThis show featured the music of and an interview with local composer and pianist Daniel Crozier. Dan is Associate Professor of Theory and Composition in the Department of Music at Rollins College. I explored some of the repertory suggestions made in Wall Street Journal music critic Barbara Jepson’s article “In With the New” because it endorses Crozier’s “Winter Aubade”.

The music aired during the program included:
Franz Schubert – Moments Musicaux, D. 780: IV. Moderato
Missy Mazzoli – Isabelle Eberhardt Dreams of Pianos
Randall Woolf – dancetudes: I. allemande; II. Courante; III. Sarabande; IV. Rag; V. shuffle, Kathleen Supove, piano
Thomas Ades – Three Mazurkas for Piano, Op.27: First Mazurka
Aaron Jay Kernis – Superstar Etude #1
Morton Gould – Boogie Woogie Etude
Daniel Crozier – Winter Aubade, Heidi Louise Williams, piano
Daniel Crozier – Capriccio, Seattle Symphony
Daniel Crozier – Nocturne, Andres Diaz and Alan Morrison
